Construction, Aggregates and Industry Groups Voice Serious Concerns about OSHA’s New Silica Standard
Construction industry groups, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and others claim federal officials could have done more to improve workplace safety by enforcing the current silica standard.
Calling the new federal silica standard “unobtainable,” as well as costly and disruptive, contractors, a construction industry coalition and the aggregates industry are claiming the new OSHA silica standard is a missed opportunity to improve workplace safety with adding an additional regulatory burden on employers.
