Fire Fighter Union Urges Safety Stand Down for Ebola
Union president says fire fighters and EMS workers do not have the training or resources to deal with Ebola incidents.
When Thomas Eric Duncan got sick his family dialed 911, fire/EMS were first on the scene and took him to the hospital. If Ebola spreads, this scenario will be repeated over and over, says International Association of Fire Fighters General President Harold Schaitberger, and fire fighter/paramedics must be ready.
“Too many jurisdictions in the United States and Canada have not adequately provided the training, equipment and resources fire fighter/paramedics need to respond appropriately and safely to potential Ebola incidents,” said Schaitberger
